Moondance

‘Moondance’ is the song that was playing the night I fell in love with my husband. I wasn’t planning on falling in love that night, or, actually, any night! It had always been my plan to have a career, then a good pension, and to gracefully retire into my senior years with lots of fun hobbies and friends.  I never even considered linking my life with another’s. After all, that would require a bit of compromise, and I never believed I would be very good at that.

So, there I was, in Sydney Australia, with a man I considered to be a lovely guy and a very good friend. We happened to be visiting a couple of friends (you know who you are, Howard and Robyn…) when the Van Morrison song ‘Moondance’ began to play. …and all of a sudden, everything shifted! There was moonlight, the smells of the lovely dinner Robyn had prepared, a handsome man standing in the room, looking at me with love in his eyes, and the song began to play. I HAD to ask him to dance with me. In this universe, at this point in time, there was no other option — if we didn’t dance, the world would go on the same way it had for the previous 40 years, and that would be unbearable. Love was waiting for me, and I had to grab it.

So, enjoy my song of love… ‘Moondance’ originally by Van Morrison, but this version is performed by Acouticsideshow…

Well, it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
’neath the cover of october skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow

And I’m trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
And all the night’s magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Can I just have one a’ more moondance with you, my love
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

Well, I wanna make love to you tonight
I can’t wait ’til the morning has come
And I know that the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you’re never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true, dear
There and then I will make you my own

And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that you can’t hide

Can I just have one a’ more moondance with you, my love
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

Well, it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
’neath the cover of october skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I’m trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low

And all the night’s magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

One more moondance with you in the moonlight
On a magic night
La, la, la, la in the moonlight
On a magic night
Can’t I just have one more dance with you my love*

…that’s my man, honey…
