Not So Serious

A day to be playful
To pretend the world is a different place
To not take yourself too seriously

Of dried up corn stalks transformed into life-sized puzzles
Of fruits and vegetables morphing into monsters
Of children becoming princesses and knights-in-shining-armor
And grown-ups becoming children once again

Of beggars at the door generating smiles
With the chant of “trick-or-treat”
Which no one understands
Or believes

But complies with, none-the-less
