Grown Up Love

indistinct butterflies

Do you want the fairytale
The dance of dreams
All flights of fancy
Of butterflies
Bright and wispy
Spun sugar

Sweet on the tongue
So tempting to eat
But unsatisfying
Leading to a belly ache
Childlike appetite
Can’t sustain life

No Peter Pan for me

Open my mind
To weaves of color
Of earthen browns
Deep forest greens
More satisfying than pink glitter
More grounded

Childish love
Looks for what it can get
Lasts as long as spun sugar
Find me adult love
That looks to give
To support, to cradle
To sustain

Autumn leaves
